We are now recruiting for a Buyer to join the Procurement Team


With over 120 suppliers including our own artisan cheese making facilities you are faced with many cultural differences therefore you need tenacity, sensitivity and stamina to achieve your challenging goals. You will be able to communicate messages clearly and concisely, listening all the time to the customer’s needs while ensuring business KPI’s are met in a timely and accurate fashion


Responsibilities but not limited to:-

  • Directly and indirectly responsible for sourcing negotiating and placing of contracts with suppliers within budget
  • Providing the business with up to date market and product information to enable informed business decisions to be formulated
  • Responsibility of all sourcing in your category working with Sourcing Director and ensuring first price is competitive and all technical requirements are adhered to
  • Communicate with suppliers when escalated from supply chain where problems are encountered  with regards to delayed deliveries and quality issues
  • Liaise within our technical department with regards to investigating and take corrective action if purchased materials do not meet specified requirements.
  • Identify and suggest new suppliers to the Company. Ensure a thorough and comprehensive vetting process is undertaken
  • Reduce stock write offs to agreed minimum yearly level in liaison with supply chain department
  • Ensure all purchases fully comply with legislative and Company Health and Safety
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance and payment terms, developing plans where required
  • Undertake visits to existing and new suppliers when required
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
  • Review customer channels and gaps in range and complete sourcing plan to ensure all areas are covered
  • Planning to achieve purchase price variance targets and weekly monitoring
  • Working on price change notifications, price variance and impact to P&L with the wider teams
  • Supporting Value Improvement and Supplier collaboration projects
  • Contribution to Buyers choice and Supplier on the Spotlight
  • Support the business in maintaining BRC A accreditation

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • IT Literate - Particularly Excel
  • Good Communicator
  • Negotiation Skills 
  • CIPS Qualification
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets 
  • Able to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations
