Food Technologist

We require an additional candidate for the role of Food Technologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the Technical and Quality Team to provide a high level of accuracy and information for customers through working with suppliers and various internal stakeholders to deliver the process, paperwork and also face to face interaction.

The role

Key responsibilities: Producing and maintaining key retail and foodservice customer specifications, and general technical requirements via the customer web based or paper system for both new and existing products.Support the quality department in management of the QMS and BRC certificationMonitor all legal requirements and current legislation for food handling and packing and ensure these are met within specificationsMeeting customer technical standards and complianceProduction of monthly technical reports in line with customer requirements.Management of raw material and packaging supplier specifications in line with company QMS requirements.To facilitate and co-ordinate the company new product development process and manage the new line form from a technical perspective. Keeping the business informed of policy and procedural changes from each of the customers, and facilitating the implementation of these changes. To support optimum standards of hygiene & housekeeping and health & safety Ensuring relevant paperwork and administration are completed to required standards.

The Role:

Working for the NPD & Packaging Manager the aim of the role is to proactively manage the procurement process and strategy for all packaging and materials, minimising spends without compromising quality, reputation or Bradburys’ service to their customers.

The role is 40 hours per week 8am – 5pm based in the office in Buxton, Derbyshire.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Manage relationships with all packaging suppliers ensuring regular reviews and visits to ensure security of supply and further opportunitiesContinuously monitor and negotiate pricing of supplied packaging and materialsResponsibility of all sourcing  in your category working with the NPD and Packaging Manager and ensuring first price is competitive and all technical requirements are adhered to.Ensure effective communication internally of any price change, price variance and the impact to P&L, customers etcSupporting the Technical team on non-conformances and ensure they get resolved and completed in a timely manner – recovery/claims management.Liaise with the Supply Chain Team and monitor supplier performance on key factors such as delivery and quality.Regular and thorough analysis of packaging and materials category and portfolio of suppliers highlighting opportunities and mitigation options to the business Work with the NPD Manager to research and engage around potential new packaging ideas and suppliers Adhere to responsible sourcing

The candidate:

We are looking for a detail orientated, proactive individual who can work within the Supply Chain team to help with the accurate and timely scheduling of packaging, ingredients and cheese to align with the Production plans. A candidate who is proactive and considered in their work, who has great communication skills and time management.

The Role:

Working within the Supply Chain Team the role is in person office base at our site in Buxton. The role is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Key tasks Use Bradburys ERP system Syspro to enter purchase orders.Utilise current usage reports to identify purchasing requirements for the business.Be the dedicated Supply Chain contact for specific customers, liaising with Bradburys Cheese colleagues and customer Supply Chain contacts.

Other responsibilities Work with the Supply Chain Team to ensure availability of packaging, ingredients and cheese.Liaise with suppliers and Procurement team to ensure timely receipt of materials.Work alongside stock control team to ensure accurate stock holding.Help to proactively identify and resolve Supply Chain issues related to packaging materials, taking corrective actions when necessary. Maintain forecasts in the Bradburys Cheese ERP system Syspro for the customer(s) that you have been assigned to support.Communicate effectively with contacts to make them aware of any shortages.Collaborate with wider Supply Chain team, providing cover when required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities Some prior experience in a Supply Chain, Operations or Planning role (1+ years).Experience in FMCG business (desirable).Able to work on their own for certain tasks but can also work effectively within a team.Excel skills (beginner/ intermediate). Further training in this area will be provided.Good communication skills (written and verbal).Manages time effectively.Some commercial acumen and understanding of the importance of excellent customer service. Works to a high level of accuracy.Clear thinker with an ability to identify potential issues and respond effectively
